About AreYouBroke.io
The Question Everyone Asks
"Am I doing okay financially?" It's the question we all ask ourselves but rarely get a straight answer to. Your friends won't tell you their salary. Your parents' advice might be outdated. And those "average income" statistics never seem to apply to your situation.
That's why we built AreYouBroke.io — a simple, free tool that gives you real perspective on where you stand financially.
What We Do
Our wealth percentile calculator compares your income or net worth across multiple dimensions:
- Globally: See how you rank among the 8 billion people on Earth. Spoiler: if you're reading this, you're probably richer than you think.
- In the United States: Compare yourself to American households using Census and Federal Reserve data.
- By Age: Context matters. A $100K net worth means something different at 25 than at 55.
- By State: $80K goes a lot further in Texas than in San Francisco.
Our Data Sources
We use publicly available data from trusted sources to make our calculations:
- World Bank global income statistics
- Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report
- U.S. Census Bureau income data
- Federal Reserve Survey of Consumer Finances
- IRS income distribution data
Note: All percentiles are estimates based on the most recent available data. Individual circumstances vary.
Privacy First
Here's the thing: we never see your financial data. All calculations happen right in your browser. Your income, net worth, age, and state information never touches our servers. We don't store it, we don't sell it, we don't even know it.
Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
The Bottom Line
Whether you're in the top 1% or working your way up, knowing where you stand is the first step toward financial confidence. Use this tool for perspective, not validation. True wealth isn't just about numbers — it's about having enough for what matters to you.
And hey, if you discover you're richer than you thought, maybe buy yourself something nice. You've earned it.
